Nexe Fundació and La Salle Campus Barcelona sign an agreement to promote academic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation

The agreement strengthens the inter-institutional cooperation relationship and allows for the promotion of activities to promote education, research and the professional integration of young people

Nexe Fundació, an organization specialized in the care of children with multiple disabilities and their families, and La Salle Campus Barcelona, a founding member of the Universitat Ramon Llull that integrates seven areas of knowledge, sign a collaboration agreement to work for academic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation. With this signature, the campus promotes awareness and assistance in the development and support of children with multiple disabilities and their families through research and knowledge transfer.

The agreement strengthens the inter-institutional cooperation relationship and establishes the bases for carrying out joint activities. Among the different actions included in the agreement, Nexe Fundació and La Salle Campus Barcelona commit to developing activities aimed at promoting the use of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics); holding courses, seminars and conferences to enhance education and research; encouraging collaboration to deepen both formal and continuing training and the development of studies and research projects; organize events that help promote R&D&I; and develop support activities that facilitate the professional integration of students.

In the words of the General Director of La Salle-URL, Josep M. Santos: “We continue to work to establish relationships with companies, institutions and foundations to connect them at different levels with the knowledge ecosystem of our campus. This agreement reinforces our mission to provide quality education that is accessible to all, and is an opportunity to put research and knowledge transfer at the service of people, especially the most vulnerable.” For her part, Sonia Corpas, General Director of Nexe Fundació, highlights: “This agreement arises from a shared vision and a common purpose between both entities to promote and guarantee that children with multiple disabilities and their families have access to quality adapted resources and supports. At Nexe, we are promoting initiatives such as the CRIT (Center for Research, Innovation and Technology) and we believe that the university environment, together with the field of research and engineering, has great potential to develop technological resources that adapt the environment and facilitate the participation and social interaction of children. I am convinced that this alliance will allow us to join forces, go further, innovate and contribute to building a better future for both children and their families”.

In order to ensure the monitoring and valorization of the activities included in the agreement, a mixed commission formed by representatives of the two institutions is being established that will meet periodically. Based on this agreement, we will work together to develop projects and offer innovative responses to the needs of children with multiple disabilities, promoting their autonomy and socialization.
