Joan Lluís Pijoan Vidal
Joan Lluís Pijoan received his MsC degree in Telecommunications from the Polytechnical University of Catalonia (UPC) in 1994 and the PhD degree from Ramon Llull University (URL) in 2000. He is lecturer of Radio Communications Systems, Mobile Communications Systems and the Measurement and Instrumentation Lab. He was in charge of the Master in Smart Grids and the Master in Telecommunications and currently is the Director of the Degree in Telecommunication systems Engineering. He has leaded more than 190 master and bachelor theses and 8 PhD theses. He was is in charge of the Research Group in Electromagnetism and Communications (GRECO) at URL from 2001 to 2014 and was the head of the Department of Communications and Signal Theory from 2001 to 2011. The GRECO group was awarded by the Catalan Government in 2009. His topics of interest are adaptive multicarrier modulations applied to advanced HF communications, NVIS and Power Line communications. He has been the leader of 19 research projects concerning advanced HF communications, most of them in Antarctica. He has cooperated in several COST European Actions and has also led technology transfer projects for several IT companies. Joan Lluis Pijoan is the author of 30 journal articles and more than 70 contributions to conferences.
