Sónar and La Salle Campus Barcelona sign a collaboration agreement to promote artistic talent and research

The agreement is part of the ‘Partners La Salle-URL’ program and entails that Advanced Music SL, the company organizing the festival, joins the Corporate Board Council

Sónar, a leading music, innovation and creativity festival, and La Salle Campus Barcelona, ​​a founding member of the Universitat Ramon Llull that integrates seven areas of knowledge, have signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of promoting the artistic talent of students and the research and transfer of knowledge from the university to the cultural sector and society in general.

The agreement is part of the Partners La Salle-URL program, whose purpose is to connect companies, institutions and foundations with the knowledge ecosystem of the campus, and involves the integration of Advanced Music SL, the company that organizes Sónar, into the Corporate Board Council, the business council of La Salle Campus Barcelona. The general manager of La Salle Campus Barcelona, ​​Josep M. Santos, values ​​the agreement: “This alliance with Sónar brings us closer to the cultural and artistic fabric of Barcelona and is an opportunity to connect even more creativity, technology and culture with the academic and research side of our campus.” For his part, Ventura Barba, CEO of Advanced Music, organizer of Sónar, highlights: “This alliance with La Salle Campus Barcelona reinforces our mission of connecting creativity, innovation and technology with emerging talent and advanced research. The collaboration strengthens our historical ties with the educational ecosystem of La Salle, especially with its new IASLab, promoting key projects for the future of digital culture, highlighting Catalonia and Barcelona as European benchmarks in innovation and cultural and technological development.”

Both institutions will work to promote artistic talent through the Project Area space, the Sónar+D exhibition area dedicated to the creative industries and the exploration of the latest trends in digital culture. This space will present content from the academic programs of the Degree in Digital Arts and the Master of Science in Digital Arts and Creative Technologies, taught by La Salle-URL. In addition, Sónar will have the opportunity to select artists, professors and researchers from the campus to participate in the Sónar+D program.

Sónar and La Salle-URL have also agreed to design and produce the artist residency programme ‘Artist in Residence – IASlab’ and research projects led by the Interactive Arts & Science laboratory (IASlab), the immersive laboratory at La Salle-URL dedicated to research in the audiovisual and multisensory sector. In the words of the Director of Research and Innovation of La Salle Campus Barcelona, ​​Rosa Ma. Alsina: “This agreement opens up new possibilities for us to delve deeper into our research and knowledge transfer activity, understood from a transdisciplinary perspective, and thus take advantage of all the possibilities offered by the IASlab, the new unique facility on campus.”
