Cultural Praxis for a Transmedia Architecture

This booklet offers a comprehensive overview of the seminar Cultural Praxis for a Transmedia Architecture, organized by the research group Architectural Logics for Emerging Contexts (ALEC) from the Architecture School of La Salle Campus Barcelona (ETSALS). The seminar investigates the deep relationship between architecture and culture, emphasizing architecture's role not only as a cultural artifact but also as a lens through which social, political, and environmental aspects of society are illuminated.

Included are exclusive essays by Ivan Blasi, Director of Programs at Fundació Mies van der Rohe, and Elvira Dyangani Ose, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA), both of whom explore the specific context of Barcelona. Additionally, the booklet expands on architectural culture at a global level through the works of Lydia Kallipoliti and the curatorial project for the Barcelona UIA 2026. Contributions from bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students further enrich the discussion by examining the cultural dimension of architecture through academic and research-based lenses.
